William Charles Shugart, AIAPrincipal
William Charles Shugart, AIA, principal, earned both an undergraduate and Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University, the latter in 1985. For 16 years, previous to the formation of Shugart Architecture, now Shugart Wasse, he was the founding principal of TECNIKOS, an award-winning architectural/interior firm known for its innovative design approach to all building types including single family homes, multifamily housing, mixed-use building complexes and sports facilities. His stretch-the-envelope approach to design and extensive experience in all construction practices has resulted in consistently successful projects of all types and scale, and have won him the respect of his colleagues and many loyal clients. He has expertise in building feasibility studies and in-depth knowledge of zoning codes and issues in the City of Seattle. His private residential work has won awards from the American Institute of Architects and been featured in various publications from Seattle to Japan. Projects have been featured in Seattle Metropolitan, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles, Northwest Home %26 Garden, Pacific Magazine, Luxury Home Quarterly, and Two x Four. He is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Matt received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Washington in 2001. For the last ten years he has been designing and building thoughtful and innovative projects ranging from mixed-use buildings to custom residential. Over the years his strong design skills has made him a design lead in several of the firms he's been a part. Matt's also committed to designing high performance buildings to help achieve a more sustainable built environment. Having completed a rigorous certification to become a Passive House Consultant, Matt strives to find ways to make our buildings healthier and more efficient in their economy and use of resources.
Shannon Murphy Shugart
Principal Interior Designer
Shannon brings over 25 years of Interior Design experience to Shugart Wasse (formerly Shugart Architecture). She has a strong background in multi-family, commercial, and healthcare facilities. She is well-respected for her ability to respond to client needs and her effectiveness in collaborating with other design consultants. Her design solutions are fresh yet timeless. As Principal Interior Designer, she is directly involved in each project. Her exceptional organizational skills and ability to keep projects within budget have won Shannon many loyal clients. She is also a former Board Member for the Washington State Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
